Microsoft’s New Windows 8 Operating System

Posted on: July 9, 2011

The Microsoft Windows team has been very quiet lately because they’ve been secretly planning the next evolution of the Windows operating system. In a recent video the Windows team gave everyone a sneak peek into Windows 8 and what we can expect to see in the future.

Jensen Harris, Director of PM, Windows User Experience, gave the tour and it was certainly an eye-opener and a breath of fresh air.

The key points were:

1). A new Start screen broken into a personal mosaic of social tiles. In other words, every app on your system will be listed as a tile.

2). Each app is easy to maneuver on the screen by sliding them back and forth, designed for touch screens, mice or keyboards.

3). The apps are fast and fluid and can allow you to work on two apps at the same time if needed.

4). Easy web browsing, a pop-up screen keyboard for thumb use if needed as well.

5). You can access your files and photos extremely fast and easy from any app on your system.

6). And best of all it will run on PCs, laptops, smartphones, desktops, and touch tablets.

Bravo Microsoft Windows team! This looks awesome and we can’t wait to try it out.

Thank you!
