iPad 2, Xoom and Galaxy Tab Tablet Sales Gaining Fast

Posted on: April 18, 2011

Five years ago everyone wanted and needed a laptop computer. Three years ago netbooks were all the rage. Last year, Apple’s iPad changed the computer playing field in a big way. So, where do tablet sales stand today?

The tablet computer has become the “must have gadget” of the year and experts are stating that this is only the beginning. Sales on the iPad, iPad 2, Motorola’s Xoom, and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab continue to skyrocket.  According to Forrester Research, they’re forecasting tablet sales to hit 24.1 million units in 2011, reach 39.8 million units in 2013 and a whopping 44 million units by 2015.

They’re also predicting that by 2015, 23% of all personal computers sold in the United States will be tablets.

One other product that will likely see a major sales jump as a result of tablet sales will be wireless printers. HP and Lexmark are currently leading the way and more companies will soon be jumping on the bandwagon as well.
